NAKRA – Sustainable Waste Management in Hospitals

Project goal

The goal of the project NAKRA is to create the base needed for the analysis and evaluation of the waste situation in the Slovak and Austrian hospitals that participate in the project. Based on this, specific implementation measures are initiated that will enable the optimisation of the waste management, the reduction of the waste amounts or of the resource consumption in the hospitals.

Another goal of the project is to initiate and enhance the contacts between Slovak and Austrian hospitals, to unite their energy towards the welfare of their patients and of the environment. The cooperation between the hospitals would also result in adjustment, respectively, further development of the regional standards of environmental and waste management in terms of the practical implementation of the EU requirements.

HdZ TransSÜD - Active Know-how Transfer Gained under the Austrian „House of the Future“

Project goal

Goal of the project is the dissemination of know-how gathered within the projects implemented under the national programme „House of the Future“ among the actors of the Sustainable Construction Network in the Austrian province of Carinthia “NaBauPool”, as well as to transfer this knowledge also to other stakeholders in the construction industry in Austria that are interested in sustainable construction materials and technology.

 

NAKO KötMaut - Criteria catalog of building ecology and sustainability

Project goal

The goal is to create a master plan in the fields of building ecology, sustainability and material efficiency. As part of this work, the criteria are listed, sorted by themes, in order to be used as a basis for discussion.

ProZukunft - Wood Products from Tomorrow Are Resources and Fuel from the Day after Tomorrow

Project goal

The project aims at creating criteria for the development of wood products that meet all requirements towards look, functionality, recycling and reuse, and, after their last cycle of use, their potential to be employed as fuel. This way, the study is oriented towards the overall goal of wood management corresponding to the demands of sustainable economical management of resources.

Consulting Austrian Eco Label - Dorfhotel Schönleitn

Project goal

The goal is the accompanying consulting  to obtain the Austrian eco-label for tourism enterprises.

As part of the ecolabel-consulting an energy and waste management concept for the "Dorfhotel Schönleitn" was created.

Sustainability coordination for the Technik- und Laborzentrum Kärnten

Project goal

The goal is to support the architects in early stages of project development, regarding the possible implementation of aspects of sustainability and environmental protection.

ABASG III - Cu – Contribution of the Waste Management to the Copper Metabolism of Austria

Project goal

The goal of the project „Contribution of the Waste Management to the Copper Metabolism of Austria“ is to identify the quantitatively most relevant copper-containing goods that circulate in the Austrian economy as well as to define their mass flows and stocks in production, supply and consumption. Additionally, the waste generation that occurs during raw material extraction, production and consumption is roughly estimated.

NABKA III - KHL - Execution of a Waste Audit in the Hietzing Hospital for 2005

Project goal

The goal is to quantifythe waste generated in the Hietzing Hospital  by means of random sampling and weighing of non hazardous hospital waste in addition to the assessment of the filling grade of the waste containers.

VEMED - INFO – Information of the hospital-employees of the Viennese Hospital Association on the options for an effective phasing-out of PVC-free medical articles

Project goal 

The project aims at identifying PVC-free alternatives for the most relevant PVC-containing articles applied in the Viennese hospitals and geriatric centres, and creating  the basics towards an efficient PVC phasing-out. With the data available as a solid background, the hospitals-members of the Viennese Hospital Association are sensitised, informed and given due support by means of well-founded PR and training campaigns. Tailored training materials, e.g. folders, leaflets and posters as well as information events, serve the targeted information and training at the hospital wards, completed by PVC-free alternatives identified.
