ReGe Strat - Resource efficient municipality

The project aims at providing information and awareness among the Austrian municipalities regarding the issue of "resources" in three focal areas (sustainable procurement, inter-communal cooperation, sustainable land use). The project lays the basis of a strategy towards a stronger, long-term focus on this issue in the municipalities.

HEALTH - Energy and Resource Efficiency in Healthcare

Project goal

Competence development and promotion of cooperation among the hospitals in the cooperation region through experience exchange, benchmarking and benchlearning, training and know-how transfer. Modul „Energy“ concentrates on the potential con-tribution of the hospitals to reducing the CO2 emissions through energy saving without affected quality of the medical care, as well as on identifying the options and their limits for energy saving.

Nako-St. Leonhard - Consulting in construction ecology and chemicals management

Project goal

The goal is to provide construction ecological consulting services and arrange the implementation of a chemicals management for the rennovation of the Primary School and the construction of a kindergarden in St. Leonhard near Siebenbrünn.

Vision Step I - Realising Villach's Smart City VIsion

The goal and purpose of the project ist to develop and realize a holistic and integrated Smart City Concept in a district of Villach. In two test areas in Villach a series of co-ordinated activities are implemented. The essential part of the concept is the upgrad of the power grid into a "smart grid". Additionally the energy users should be motivated and supported in reducing and optimizing their energy consumption. New finacing and business models for decentralised power plants should encourage privat investors and citiziens to invest in local renewable energy.

UMBESA - Sustainable Menu

The goal of the EU funded project UMBESA (ETZ program) is to select particular meals and foods in the participating commercial kitchens, which are optimised towards sustainability. A sustainable menu is characterized by the consideration of these criteria:

  • freshly cooked instead of convenient
  • regional food
  • seasonal food
  • biological quality
  • less meat

To check the feasibility of sustainable meals in commercial kitchens, test-cookings are realised. Moreover, there is a detailed evaluation of the meals regarding economy, ecology and nutrition physiology done. The benefit of the menu optimisation: cost savings and reduction of energy consumption as well as the reduction of CO2 emissions of the kitchens.

Urban Future - Research questions regarding the city of the future

Project goal

The project goal is to raise and develop research questions on the "Resource-efficient city of the future". These questions should build the foundation for the strategic orientation of future agendas of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (bmvit).

EnBA - Concept for the sustainable use of construction waste

Project goal

The EnBa project aims at identifying the risks and potentials which construction waste may involve. Furthermore the project will show the logistical and technical options as well as the basic conditions, that are necessary to increase the recycling and reduce the amount of disposed waste.
